What Are Facial Implants?

At Scottsdale Surgical Arts, we believe facial implants are part of a personalized approach to facial harmony. We work closely with each patient to enhance structure and balance while achieving natural, proportionate results.

Facial implants are biocompatible materials that are placed under the skin to enhance the shape and definition of key facial features such as the chin, cheeks, and jawline. They are often used to correct volume loss from aging, improve facial symmetry, or strengthen the profile.

Facial implants provide a long-lasting way to enhance contours, restore balance, and improve facial symmetry. Whether adding definition to the chin, cheeks, or jawline, our providers customize implants for natural, harmonious results that complement your unique features.

Ideal for men and women, implants can be combined with other rejuvenation procedures to help you look and feel your best.

Who is a Candidate?

You may be a good candidate for facial implants if you:

  • Have a naturally underdeveloped chin, cheeks, or jaw

  • Desire better balance between facial features

  • Want a long-term solution to facial volume loss

  • Are in good health and have realistic expectations

Common Types of Facial Implants

Chin Implants

Designed to increase chin projection and define the jawline. A stronger chin can dramatically improve the facial profile, particularly when paired with rhinoplasty or neck contouring.

Cheek Implants

Enhance volume in the mid-face, especially in patients with flat or sunken cheeks due to genetics or aging. This restores youthful fullness and facial balance.

Jawline Implants

Create a more sculpted, angular jawline. Ideal for patients with a softer lower face who desire stronger definition.

The Procedure

The surgeon performs facial implant surgery under IV sedation. Small incisions are made either inside the mouth or in discreet external locations, depending on the implant type. The implant is then carefully placed and secured for a precise, symmetrical result.

Facial implants can be performed as a stand-alone procedure or combined with other surgeries such as facelifts, blepharoplasty, or rhinoplasty for full facial rejuvenation.

Recovery & Results

  • Recovery varies depending on the area treated but typically includes:
  • Mild to moderate swelling and bruising for 1–2 weeks
  • Return to light activities within 7–10 days
  • Full healing and final results within a few months
  • Once healed, facial implants feel like natural bone and provide permanent improvement to your facial contours
