After more than three decades of caring for patients throughout Arizona, Dr. Carl J. Gassmann has retired from clinical practice.
When Dr. Gassmann founded Scottsdale Surgical Arts in 1995, his vision was to create a practice built on surgical excellence, innovation, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to patient care. Over the years, that vision became the foundation of a practice trusted by generations of patients, families, dentists, physicians, and healthcare professionals across Arizona.
As a Board-Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, Dr. Gassmann earned a reputation for excellence in wisdom teeth removal, dental implants, corrective jaw surgery, facial reconstruction, and facial cosmetic procedures. His passion for advancing the specialty extended well beyond patient care through research, published work, and lectures presented on both national and international levels.
More importantly, Dr. Gassmann built a practice defined not only by exceptional surgical outcomes, but by integrity, compassion, and lasting relationships. His dedication to treating every patient with respect and individualized care established Scottsdale Surgical Arts as one of Arizona’s most respected oral and maxillofacial surgery practices.
Continuing the Mission
Although Dr. Gassmann’s retirement marks the conclusion of an extraordinary career, the values and vision upon which Scottsdale Surgical Arts were founded continue under the leadership of Dr. Devin M. Wahlstrom, DMD, FACS, FAACS.
Having worked closely together and sharing a steadfast commitment to clinical excellence, Dr. Gassmann entrusted the future of Scottsdale Surgical Arts to Dr. Wahlstrom. Today, Dr. Wahlstrom continues the tradition of providing comprehensive oral and maxillofacial surgery, advanced dental implant care, facial reconstruction, and facial cosmetic surgery with the same dedication that patients have come to expect.
While retired from active practice, Dr. Gassmann remains an important part of the Scottsdale Surgical Arts family. He looks forward to occasionally visiting the office, offering encouragement, and supporting Dr. Wahlstrom as the practice evolves into its next chapter.
