What to Expect

Otoplasty reshapes or repositions the ears through a small incision behind the ear, typically under local anesthesia with IV sedation (or general anesthesia for younger patients). The procedure takes 1–2 hours and is performed in-office or at an outpatient surgical center.

After surgery, a soft dressing protects the ears while mild swelling, bruising, and discomfort usually resolve within a week. Most patients return to school or work in 5–7 days, with final, natural-looking results visible as healing progresses.
